• Apache Corp., a U.S. oil and natural-gas producer, agreed to buy Pioneer Natural Resources Co.'s operations in
Argentina for about $675 million to boost production in the Latin American country. A ``significant'' part of the assets
are subject to preferential rights to purchase by existing owners, Houston-based Apache said in a statement today.
The transaction is expected to be completed this quarter or early in the second quarter, Pioneer said in a separate
statement. Most of the assets Apache agreed to purchase are located in the Neuquen Basin, with the rest in southern
Argentina's Tierra del Fuego.
